In the 6 sessions, you’ll learn 4 different processes working with wax, with time to create your chosen design in the company of lovely creatives, amateur makers and keens crafters just like you. The course will be limited to 6 people so there will be plenty of attention and time to ask questions throughout the course.

The 6 Day Wax Carving Course is suitable for crafters of all abilities, from absolute beginners to those with some knowledge of silversmithing. There will be a chance to have your wax carvings cast in your chosen metal or simply spend your time perfecting your wax carvings. If you have any questions or want to make sure this is the creative session for you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch by sending an email or DM.

The course will cover

-Creating to a size and weight
-Creating a stone setting
-Creating using the building up process
-Creating using the cast in place technique (setting stones into wax before casting)
-freestyle time

Materials
The price of this workshop includes the use of all tools, wax and cubic zirconia stones (CZ’s).

If you choose, silver will be charged at £2.70 a gram so that you can create your own stunning one-of-a-kind ring, pendant or earrings. Anyone simply looking for experience in wax carving may choose not to have their pieces cast.

As a guide, a very heavy silver ring could weigh 18 grams. Your wax will be weighed and a cost will be calculated at the end of the first session.

The cast in place process is perfect for ruby’s, sapphires, cubic zirconias and diamonds under 3mm. We will be working with cz’s but you are welcome to bring your own stones.

You’ll take home your original creations, plus worksheets allowing you to continue your new hobby in the comfort of your own home with the knowledge of how to create more pieces with a basic toolkit.

What a superb introduction to wax carving. Aimee had created a great range of projects to help us learn and practice lots of different techniques. The studio is really well equipped which gave us a chance to try out different tools. Aimee is a great teacher combining enough instruction with lots of encouragement for everyone to follow their own creative ideas. Excellent! Highly recommended!

  2. Amy

Great wax carving course run by Aimee, who is a very helpful teacher! She created some great projects for us and we all left with wonderful pieces of jewellery! She also provided us with a helpful workbook, which I still use today! Would recommend this course!

  3. Natalie

Couldn’t recommend Aimee’s wax carving classes enough! I already had some experience of using wax but wanted to increase my confidence with it, Aimee’s workshop helped me massively with this and I’m so glad I did it! She has a lovely teaching style and takes the time to help you, give you tips and answer any questions. I’m now a lot more confident with making pieces and have sent my first few off for casting which I’m glad I waited to do as I’ve definitely saved myself a lot of clean up time from what I’ve learnt! Thank you Aimee!

  4. Liz

Fantastic course. Aimee’s a great teacher, all of us learned such a lot and left with pieces we were really pleased with. The Covid arrangements made us feel completely safe. Highly recommended!
